Late period goals sink Blades

Late first and second period goals proved the difference as the
Lakeshore Canadiens defeated the Blenheim Blades 3-1 in Provincial
Junior Hockey League Stobbs Division action Sunday at the Blenheim
Memorial Arena.
The Loss leaves the Blades alone in third place with 20 points, three
behind the Canadiens, and two up on the fourth-place Mooretown
Flags who have played four fewer games than Blenheim.
Blenheim will return to action Saturday as it will be the annual Blades
Alumni Night with a pair of alumni games – one at 3 p.m. and another
at 4 – followed by the Blades Stobbs Division tilt with the Dresden
Kings at 6.
Sunday night the Blades took a 1-0 first period lead when Darby
Lemieux scored his third goal of the season at 12:57, assisted by Tate
Bowden and Jaxon Boucher.
Lakeshore tied things at 18:23 when Braydin Metcalfe scored.
The second period has just three seconds remaining when Kyle
Walker gave the Canadiens a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.
Lakeshore’s Eric Bisson upped the score to 3-1 at7:49 of the third
period, and the two-goal lead stood up the rest of the way.

BLADES BITS: Blades new mascot Brutus Blade made his first
the appearance of the season, much to the delight of the younger ones in
the crowd of 354…Evan Wells and Alex Edwards did not dress for
Blenheim…Jake Vancoillie was between the pipes for Blenheim and
faced 39 shots, while his teammates fired 37 on Lakeshore netminder
Romano Liburdi…Sunday’s ice sponsor was Rumble Water Wells of
