Blades work hard but fall to Lakeshore 4-1
Sunday night at the Blenheim Memorial Arena the Blenheim Blades
gave the first-place Lakeshore Canadiens a battle before falling 4-1 in
Provincial Junior Hockey League Stobbs Division action.
The loss leaves Blenheim in sixth-place in the nine-team loop with 26
points, five behind the Amherstburg Admirals and the Wheatley Sharks,
who are tied for fourth with 31 points.
Blenheim and Amherstburg have three games each left, while
Wheatley has two, including next Sunday’s season-ending contest in
Blenheim against the Blades at 7 p.m.
Wednesday night the Blades will be on the road to play the third-
place Mooretown Flags at 8:30 p.m. in Mooretown, and then wrap up
their away from home season Thursday at 7:30 in Petrolia against the
seventh-place Flyers.
Tate Bowden gave the Blades a 1-0 lead after the first period when he
scored at 13:11, with assists going to Evan Wells and netminder Caleb
Pinsonneault.
Lakeshore evened things at six seconds of the middle 20 minutes
when Trevor Larue netted an unassisted tally.
Luka Mesic put the Canadiens ahead to stay eight minutes later, and
the teams went to their dressing rooms after two periods with the
Blades down 2-1.
Dylan Weston made it 3-1 Lakeshore at 11:07 of the third period, and
Brian McCarthy iced the game with an empty net, shorthanded goal, at
17:13.
