MOORETOWN – Wednesday night the Blenheim Blades travelled to
Mooretown to play the Mooretown Flags, and ended up on the short
end of a 6-1 score in Provincial Junior Hockey League Stobbs Division
action.
The defeat means the sixth-place Blades, now 13-17-0-0 on the
season, will finish sixth and meet the third-place Flags in a best-of-
seven Stobbs quarter-final series beginning next Wednesday in
Mooretown at 7:30 p.m.
Game 2 will be next Thursday at the Blenheim Memorial Arena at 7,
with Game 3 in Mooretown Saturday, Mar. 12 at 7:30, and Game 4 back
in Blenheim Sunday, Mar. 13 at 7.
Sunday night at 7 p.m. the Blades will wrap up their regular season
when they host the Wheatley Sharks at 7 p.m.
The game will be the last where single-game passes with be accepted.
Wednesday the teams played a scoreless first period with the veteran-
laden Flags lineup taking over in the middle 20 minutes outscoring the
Blades 5-1.
Mooretown had the only third-period goal.
Former Blade Brodie Conlon, Greg Hay, Nick Stevens, Nolan Farr, Jake
Vince and Konnor Adams tallied for the Flags.
Ben Barnard, who returned to action after missing the last six games,
netted the lone Blenheim tally on a powerplay late in the second
period.
The goal was Barnard’s seventh of the season with assists going to
Evan Wells and Tyler Ewald.
BLADES BITS: Not dressed for the Blades were Seth Henderson, Jared
Delaey, Evan Minnie and Cameron Hazzard…Mooretown outshot
Blenheim 38-32…Caleb Pinsonneault was between the pipes for the
Blades and Nathan King for the Flags…Ex-Blade Conlon is among the
division’s top goal scorers and point-getters thanks to 23 goal and 22
assists for 55 points.
