Blades beat Sharks 3-1 in final exhibition game

The Blenheim Blades wrapped up their three-game PJHL Stobbs Division exhibition season Sunday night with a 3-1 victory over the
Wheatley Sharks before 250 fans at the Blenheim arena.  In their three exhibition wins the Blades allowed just two goals,  while scoring 12 in victories over the Walpole Island Wild twice and the Sharks.

Next Sunday the Wild will be at the Blenheim arena to help the Blades kick off the 42-game regular season with game time at 7 p.m.
In Sunday’s win there was no scoring in the first period, with  Blenheim going up 1-0 on a powerplay goal by veteran defenceman  Alec Webster at 8:07 of the second 20 minutes with assists going to two other vets – Tate Bowden and Darby Lemieux  Blenheim made it 2-0 when Bowden scored at 12:06 of the second period. His goal also came on a PP with an assist going to veteran defenceman Brad McAlpine. Bowden then wrapped up the scoring for his team for the night when he netted his second goal at 15:15 of the third period, assisted
by McAlpine and rookie Remi Steen.The lone Wheatley tally came with just 14 seconds left in the contest when Shannon Olson scored for the Sharks.

BLADES BITS:
Four players still looking to crack the Blades lineup were suited up – defenceman Logan Graziano and forwards Quinn Pickering, Noah Bright and Everitt Swayze…Veteran netminders Jake Vancoillie and Owen Lemieux split the goaltending duties for the Blades stopping 26 of 27 Wheatley shots, while Blenheim had their three goals on 31 shots…Fans are reminded that admission prices this season are $10 for adults, $6 for seniors and students, $5 for children ages six to 12 years, and children five and under are free….Sunday’s ice time sponsors were Blenheim Canadian Tire and Food Basics Blenheim.
