Blades sign three rookies

Earlier this week the Blenheim Blades announced the signing of three rookies bringing the total number of players signed for the 2022-23 season to five.
All three forwards Sam Warriner and Austin Drew, and defenceman Owen Reeves, suited up for the Blades at various times as AP call-ups last season.

Blenheim native Warriner, who turns 17 in August, is the son of former NHLer Todd Warriner, who also served some time as a Blades assistant coach a few years back, Sam’s Grandfather Ivan Warriner played on very first Blades team in 1965/66 season, Sam played in two regular season games and three playoff games for the Blades last season picking up two assists. Comber’s Drew, 17, AP’d for two games last season and had the distinction of scoring two goals in each game. Reeve, of Chatham, who is also 17, played in five playoff games for the Blades.

The signings join veteran Junior ‘B’ defencemen Brad McAlpine and Noah Prudhomme who signed with the Blades earlier this month. The Blades will host a mini tryout camp Tuesday, Aug. 16 and Thursday, Aug. 18. The camp is open to all interested players, and they can register by going to the Blades website and www.blenheimblades.com to register.
