Blades beat Kings again, hit the 50 point mark

DRESDEN – The third-place Blenheim Blades reached the 50-point
mark Friday night thanks to a 5-3 victory over the sixth-place Dresden
Kings in PJHL Stobbs Division action at the Ken Houston Memorial
Arena in Dresden.
The Blades now have 24 wins, nine regulation defeats, one overtime
loss and one tie in their 35 games played, and with seven regular
season games left are within six points of setting a team single-season
record that stands at 55 as both the 1978-79 and 1994-95 teams
finished with 55 points.
Next action for the Blades will be Saturday in Amherstburg against
the Admirals at 7:30 p.m., followed by a home game Sunday at 7
when the last-place Walpole Island Wild come to town.
In Friday’s victory rookie Everitt Swayze netted his ninth goal of the
season and chipped in with two assists, while Stobbs Division points
leader team captain Craig Spence had a goal, his 23rd, and two assists
to run his points total to 66, and third overall for PJHL players.
Owen Reeve, his first, Matt Hayter, his fourth, and newcomer Ayden
McKinlay, his first, had the other Blenheim goals, while new
defenceman Cameron Robertson picked up two assists and Remi
Steen, Ethan Chittle and Gavin Meriano helped out with one each.
Dresden got goals from Blake Stevens in the first period, Maclean
Norris in the second and Owen Campbell in the third.
BLADES BIT: The Blades have now won six of their last eight games,
and have beaten Dresden all six times they have met, shutting them
out three times, and outscoring them 29-7…Blenheim outshot the
Kings 48-20…Not dressed for Blenheim were Alec Webster, Andre
Goulet, Darby Lemieux, Breck Rainey and Ryan Sanders…Sunday’s
game on Jan. 28 against Walpole will be Chatham-Kent Crush Night

with any player or staff member attending the game wearing a team
jersey or jacket getting in for free…Owen Lemieux was in goal for the
Blades and picked up his 15th win of the season against three
losses…Attendance was 211.
