Blades beat Dresden, now 3-0-0-0 on the season

     The Blenheim Blades have played three games in their PJHL Stobbs Division 42-game season, and after a 5-2 victory over the Dresden Kings before 467 fans Sunday night at the Blenheim arena share first place with the Essex ’73s.

    Both clubs have three wins, no losses and six points, with the Wheatley Sharks and Mooretown Flags at four points each with two wins and a loss.

   Next up for the Blades will be the Sharks here next Sunday night at 7.

   The Blades scored once in the first period, and four times in the third, while the Kings netted goals in the second and third 20 minutes.

   Veteran Tate Bowden led the way for Blenheim with three goals and two assists, while captain Craig Spence had a goal and two assists, and veteran Zach Van Boxtel scored once and set up two more.

  Darby Lemieux assisted on two of the goals, and rookie Justin Ewald helped out on one to give him five points in the last two games.

  Both Dresden goals came off the stick of Brady Robertson.

  Owen Lemieux tended net for the Blades and picked up his second victory stopping 26 of 28 shots, while the Blades fired 59 shots at Kings’ netminder Ty Golden.

    BLADES BITS: Not dressed for the Blades were Alex Webster who sat out the contest with a one-game suspension for a fight late in Saturday’s 8-2 win over the Flags in Mooretown…Also not playing was forward Beau Moison, who has yet to see action because of a training camp injury, and veteran Ian Campbell, who was sick…Bowden was named the game’s first star, with Spence the second and Van Boxtel the third…Prior to the puck drop a minute of silence was held in memory of former Blade Brian Lowes who passed away Saturday…Ice sponsors were Wayne’s Pizza of Blenheim and Chatham’s Victory Ford.
