Thursday night the Blenheim Blades hosted the Amherstburg Admirals in
Provincial Junior Hockey League Stobbs Division action at the Blenheim
Memorial Arena, and ended up on the short end of a 4-3 score thanks to late
period goals by the Admirals.
The fourth-place Blades’ record is 5-6-0-0 for 10 points with the Wallaceburg
Thunderhawks coming to town Sunday at 7 p.m.
The Admirals scored with 56 seconds left in the first period to break a 2-1 tie,
and then went up 3-1 at 19:38 of the second period.
Tate Bowden scored his fourth and fifth goals of the year to even things at 3-3
in the third period before Max Clifford netted the winner for Amherstburg with
just 1:24 to play in regulation time.
Blenheim’s Trent Amaro scored his second of the season in the first period,
with assists going to Connor Roth and Ian Campbell.
Campbell also picked up an assist when Bowden scored at 4:26 of the third
period. Evan Minnie also assisted on the play.
Tyler Ewald and Alex Edwards helped out on Bowden’s second goal in the final
20 minutes.
Rookie Jake Vancoillie was in goal for the Blades and faced 42 shots, while
Blenheim fired 33 at Amherstburg netminder Nicolas Bolton.
BLADES BITS: The Blades are the youngest team in the Stobbs division
averaging 18:32 years a player…Dresden is next at 18:42, while Wallaceburg is
the oldest at 19:31 and Amherstburg the second oldest at 19 even…Newcomer
Evan Wells played his first game Thursday on a line with Ben Barnard and
Connor Wright…Following Sunday’s game the Blades will be idle until Saturday
when they bus to Mooretown to play the Flags, with the Wheatley Sharks
coming to Blenheim week from Sunday…Thursday’s ice time sponsors was
