Blades score seven in second period, beat Admirals 7-2

The Blenheim Blades and the Amherstburg Admirals played a scoreless first period at the Blenheim arena Thursday night, and then the teams netted nine goals in the second 20 minutes, with Blenheim getting seven of them for a 7-2 Provincial Junior Hockey League Stobbs Division victory.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Blades, who now have four wins and five loses in nine starts, good enough for a fourth-place tie with the Admirals at eight points, two behind the third-place Wheatley Sharks and two up on the Mooretown Flags, who will come to Blenheim Sunday night to play the Blades at 7 p.m.

Evan Wells scored twice for Blenheim, his first and second goals of the year, with Noah Prudhomme getting his fourth, Ian Campbell his fourth, Austin Drew his sixth, Alex Webster his third and Connor Roth his first.

Wells, Roth and Webster all had powerplay tallies, while the Admirals two goals came shorthanded – one by Connor Demelo and one by Owen Papulkas.

Darby Lemieux had three assists for Blenheim, with Prudhomme and Campbell getting two each, and Jaxon Boucher, Brad McAlpine, Roth, Ben Barnard, Tate Bowden, Zach Van Boxtel and Wells chipping in with one each.

Owen Lemieux, who came to Blenheim last Friday in a trade with the Dresden Kings, picked up his first win as a Blade stopping 18 of 20 Amherstburg shots while his teammates fired 30 on the Admirals net.
