Blades, Owen Lemieux shutout Kings 7-0 on Alumni Night
For the second time in less than two weeks the Blenheim Blades
have blanked the Dresden Kings in Provincial Junior Hockey League
Stobbs Division play on Blenheim Memorial Arena ice.
On Nov. 13 the Kings came to town and went home without a goal in
a 6-0 beating as they were unable to put a puck past Blenheim
netminder Jake Vancoillie.

Saturday the Kings were back and facing their old goalie Owen
Lemieux, who picked up his first Junior hockey shutout as he and his
teammates won 7-0 on the Blades annual Alumni Night.
Since coming to the Blades from Dresden Lemieux has won three
times and has one defeat with a sparkling 1:79 goals against average.
The win gives the Blades an 11-8-0-0 record for 22 points, three
behind the second-place Lakeshore Canadiens, and three up on both
the Mooretown Flags and Wheatley Sharks.

It didn’t take the Blades long to ice game as Connor Roth scored his
third goal of the season just 19 seconds into the first period, with
assists going to Brad McAlpine and Ryan Sanders.
Just a little over five minutes later it was McAlpine and Sanders
setting up Ayden McKinlay for his first tally of the year and the blow
out was on.

By the end of the first 20 minutes it was 4-0 Blades thanks to goals
by Ben Barnard, his fourth, and Daniel Norton, his third.
Ian Campbell and Evan Wells assisted on the Barnard score and
Austin Drew and Zach Van Boxtel on Norton’s.
There was no scoring in the second period with Noah Prudhomme
(10th), Campbell (5th) and Tate Bowden (12th) getting one each in the
third frame.

Sam Warriner, with two, Bowden, Barnard, Connor Wright and
Darby Lemieux picked up third period assists.
Bowden’s came on a powerplay.
