Blades stay alive, beat Flags 3-2 in Game 4

Sunday night at the Blenheim Memorial Arena the Blenheim Blades,
facing elimination from their Provincial Junior Hockey League Stobbs
Division best-of-seven quarter-final series with the Mooretown Flags,
played an impressive 60-minutes for a 3-2 victory to force Game 5
Wednesday in Mooretown.
Game time will be 7:30 p.m. with Game 6, if the Blades can
duplicate Game 4, will back in Blenheim Thursday at 7 p.m.
In other quarter-final action Sunday the Essex 73’s beat the Petrolia
Flyers 6-1 to lead that series 3-0, and the Wheatley Sharks shutout the
Amherstburg Admirals 2-0 to go up 3-0 in that series.
There was no scoring in the first period, with the Blades going up 1-0
at 1:41 of the second 20 minutes when Trent Amaro scored his second
goal of the series, with assists going to Connor Wright and Evan Wells.
Mooretown then got tallies from Tristen Konrad and Greg Hay to
lead 2-1 after two periods.
Ian Campbell’s second of the playoffs at 34 seconds of the third
period knotted the game at 2-2, with Sebastian Stubberfield and Tate
Bowden assisting.
Then at 9:16 Wright netted the eventual winner, with an assist from
Wells. The goal was Wright’s first of the playoffs.
Caleb Pinsonneault was between the pipes for the Blades and
stopped 35 of Mooretown’s 37 shots, while his teammates fired 30 on
Mooretown netminder Nathan King.

BLADES BITS: Mooretown was one for five on the powerplay, while
the Blades did not score on any of their man advantages…Not dressed
for the Blades were Evan Minnie, Jared Delaey, Jeff Carey and Connor Roth…

Attendance was the biggest crowd of the season – 401…
