Blades drop two exhibition games to North Middlesex

The Stobbs Division Blenheim Blades were busy on the weekend in Provincial Junior Hockey
League action playing a home-and-home exhibition series with the Yeck Division North
Middlesex Stars and came out on the short end of both scores.
Saturday in Parkhill the Blades had a 2-1 lead halfway through the third period but ended
up losing 3-2, and Sunday dropped a 4-1 decision to the Stars before 135 fans at the Blenheim
Memorial Arena.
The Blades opened the scoring at 3:36 of the first period Sunday when Ben Barnard scored
his second goal to date with assists going to Connor Wright and Alex Edwards.
North Middlesex came back with three of second-period goals to take a 3-1 lead into the
third period.
Pryce Vafiades tied the game in the second period at 1-1 at 2:04, and Jacob Howard put the
Stars ahead to stay at 2:52.
Hayden Basso made it 3-1 at 5:49, and then scored the lone goal of the third period at 9:49.
Veteran Caleb Pinsonneault was in goal for the Blades and faced 28 shots, while the Blades
had 29 on Stars netminder Pierce Nelson.
Saturday night Connor Roth and Tyler Ewald scored the Blenheim goals, with rookie
netminder Jan Van Coillie in net for the full 60 minutes.
BLADES BITS: The Blades have a home-and-home exhibition series with Wallaceburg this
week starting Wednesday in Wallaceburg at 7:30 p.m. with the Thunderhawks in Blenheim
Sunday at 7…The Blades exhibition record stands at 2-2-1…Blenheim has scored 13 goals in
