Blades blast Thunderhawks 12-3

WALLACEBURG – The Blenheim Blades made their second visit this season Wednesday night to Wallaceburg to play the Thunderhawks, and came home with an impressive 12-3 victory over the home squad, to go with a 5-3 Sept. 14 win in the season opener in Wallaceburg for both squads.

The win gives Blenheim a 3-2-0-0 record, and six points in their Provincial Junior Hockey League Stobbs Division. The six points are good for a share of third place with the Lakeshore Canadiens and the Mooretown Flags.

It didn’t take long for Wednesday’s game to be decided as the Blades scored at 1:28 and 1:50 of the opening period, and added a third goal at 6:37.

By the time the first 20 minutes ended the Blades were up 5-0.

Three more goals in the second period, and four in the third, proved more than enough for the victory.

Noah Prudhomme and Connor Wright each scored twice for Blenheim, as did Austin Drew and Brad McAlpine.

Ben Barnard, Zach Van Boxtel, Ian Campbell and Alec Webster had the others.

Daniel Norton, Connor Roth, and Campbell picked up two assists each, with singles going to Wright, Tate Bowden, Webster, Barnard, Adam Enwright, Drew and McAlpine.

Blenheim’s Josh Remsik, Ridgetown’s Jeremy Vandenboorn and Logan Peltier scored for the Thunderhawks in the second period.

Wallaceburg is now 1-5-0-0 on the season.
