Blades add more experience to the roster

Four games ago veteran defenceman Sebastian Stubberfield decided to return to the Blenheim Blades, and Tuesday the Blenheim and the Junior B Chatham Maroons made a deal that drought the Blades veteran Maroon forward Evan Wells.

In return the Blades sent rookie defenceman Blain Bacik, 17, to the Maroons. Bacik, a Blenheim resident, had played exhibition games in September before signing with his hometown club.
The move is a step up for Bacik, who had played seven games for the Blades picking up one assist.

Wells, 20 of Chatham, had played eight games for the Blades as a call-up in the 2017-18 season before moving to the Maroons for the 2018-19 year. In 2018-19 the winger had three goals and six assists for nine points in 39 games, and added 18 goals and eight assists for 26 points, along with 166 penalty minutes, in 2019-20.

In 14 games to date this season with the Maroons Wells had picked up a goal and five assist for six points. Wells is expected to be in the lineup Thursday when the Blades host the
Amherstburg Admirals at 7 p.m. at the Blenheim Memorial Arena.
